Wall mounted or free standing cabinets and Rittal server racks are implemented for patch panels, switches and servers, with capacity for future expansion. CAT5e, CAT6 or augmented CAT6 (CAT6a) copper and fibre optic cabling deliver the backbone connections or sockets to support networked devices. Projects vary from a single socket for a user, to hundreds of outlets for new buildings. All outlets are uniquely labelled to an agreed scheme and the terminations are checked with a Fluke certification tester.

Network switches are fitted to improve performance/capacity, with network designs that carefully consider the topology for performance, with switches re-located where appropriate to ensure the optimum service is delivered to key areas. Topological Limited prefers HP ProCurve switches, as these have extensive functionality and features including Power over Ethernet (PoE), Virtual LANs (VLANs) and Quality of Service (QoS) that are utilised to support the associated applications such as wireless, IP Telephony (VoIP) and IP Surveillance (CCTV).

Completed systems are supported by an impressive documentation pack that includes schematics, test results, serial numbers, IP and MAC addresses and patching records.
