Major overhaul of the infrastructure

The new Network Manager adopted an infrastructure that had been fitted over many years with little attention to performance and a selection of unmanaged and old managed switches that was struggling to support the current system and would severely restrict the plans for the new servers and software applications.

Topological Limited assessed the site and provided solutions with options for a phased replacement of the switches with new HP ProCurve managed units linked to a HP chassis. Due to the competitive prices, the network upgrade was performed in a single phase, which included a 10 Gigabit Ethernet link to the backup servers and dual trunked link to some switches for increased performance.

By considering options and attractive pricing, this client was able to effectively implement a major server overhaul with new client software, with no network issues. Building on this cabled structure, wireless technology is now being added across the site for flexible working.
