Secure wireless across the site

Having already upgraded the majority of switches to HP ProCurve managed units and sockets in all rooms; flexible working was required in all areas for two different applications.

Teachers wanted wireless for Electronic Registration in every teaching room, with multiple laptops used in Science with a plan to purchase more for the other subjects. A survey was undertaken to deliver the service into all areas and the information was presented as radio frequency (RF) “heat maps” on site plans to determine the available bandwidth (at 2.4 GHz), with the laptop trolleys operating at 5GHz (as this delivers a faster solution for suites of computers in a smaller area).

Following the success of this project, there are now twelve laptop trolleys used and Topological Limited has been involved with a number of projects including the relocation of the Server Room by implementing a 10 Gb Ethernet link to the core switch.
