Topological Limited was established to deliver quality infrastructure solutions to clients from all market sectors, based on best advice and value for money. This may only be achieved by a personal friendly service from informed members of staff and so there are two key business elements that are critical to the delivery of our solutions.

Andrew J Hamer - Network Consultant

Andrew completed a graduate training program in 1991, before helping setup a cabling company in Salford (that acquired an established electrical contractor) and developed the networking side obtaining clients in the Education and Health sectors.  After four successful years he took the opportunity to move to a Warrington based cabling installer and recognised the growing use of IT in schools, with a change in emphasis from coaxial cabling (and repeaters) to the new UTP systems (with hubs), so started to specialise in delivering network solutions targeted at the demands from this market.

Valuable experience was obtained as part of the NGfL projects, with schools expanding their networks, with issues such as the support of separate Admin and Curriculum networks, all with limited budgets.

This expertise was noticed by an educational specialist, so Andrew moved companies and established the network infrastructure department for the computer systems company, changing their policy of fitting low-cost unmanaged switches to using HP ProCurve chassis based core switches and stackable managed 10/100 units with a logical flexible Gigabit backbone.

As part of the commitment to value and best advice, Andrew recognised the need for a personal professional service and established Topological Limited in April 2005, selecting key suppliers to ensure a quality service based around HP ProCurve products was delivered to education and business clients.

With an increasing number of new clients following recommendations from satisfied customers, Topological Limited wanted to invest in the support of the network and so appointed an engineer with computer experience to train in the implementation and support of the infrastructures, but keeping the key factor of a friendly professional service.

Marc Dale - Network Engineer

The selection of a new member of staff was complicated by the number of skills that are required to deliver installation and support services.  Marc was an ideal candidate, due to his experience of computers and his knowledge of school systems as he was working as a technician in a major high school.

Following the initial training, Marc has taken responsibility for the Support department, with procedures to log and rectify issues and has delivered high levels of client satisfaction due to his flexibility and aim to respond to issues quickly.  His friendly professional attitude allows him to communicate effectively with technical staff and managers, explaining clearly the cause of the issue and how it was resolved.

As part of the development of his role, Marc now also oversees the managed wireless hotspot projects, working with engineers and site representatives to ensure the sites are surveyed to support the client’s requirements and the projects are implemented correctly to deliver the quality of service, thus minimising the chance of a support call.
